Blue Train: Making History Dance

DVD Price: $14.95 Postage Paid

Blue Train: Making History Dance documents the making of a 1996, site-specific, dance and music performance, which explored the impact of the railroads on the economic, social and cultural development of the city of Lincoln, Nebraska. Developed by choreographer Martha Bowers, the event brought together dancers from New York’s Dance/Theatre/Etcetera company, composer John King, jazz singer Annette Murrell, retired railroad employees and members of the Lakota and Omaha tribes, to translate the community’s common legacy. Blue Train is about the process of an artist interacting with a community and how the oral histories of diverse individuals can be translated into theatrical metaphors.

This film was accepted and shown at the Dance on Camera Festival 2000 in New York City and the 1999 Great Plains Film Festival.
